"Hi, this is Jim Goettler on behalf of Expert Village and this is a video series about producing a house concert. Once of the first stumbling blocks folks always run up against is how do we find a performer, how do we go about inviting them? The easiest way, without being really simplistic about it is contact them and invite them. Your favorite singer, or performer, or poet who are traveling, make themselves accessible. Now be realistic about it, if it's a band that generally plays to fifteen thousand people, the chances of them doing a house concert, for free, are pretty remote. But there's a whole network of folks around the country who are performing at house concerts on a very regular basis. They're on the web, you can Google, enter search engines and track down the organizations, usually NIT, that are keeping house concerts alive and well all around the country. So, the first thing you do is contact them, invite them, see what their tour schedules are, most folks have websites, see what their tour schedules are so you don't have to do what's called "pay the freight". If they're already going to be in your part of the country contact them, invite them to perform at a house concert, it's the easiest, simplest way to go. Next segment I'm just going to talk a little bit about the business side of this whole thing. How you pay them, if you pay them, and what you pay them, do you put them up, how do you feed folks that are on the road. OK?"
