How to Play "Smells Like Teen Spirit" on the Guitar

"JOE WILES: Coming in at number 30 is Nirvana's "Smells Like Teen Spirit", let's take a look. All right this song kicks off all three fingered power chords, okay. Really simple, put your index finger on the 1st fret of the low E string, the ring finger on the 3rd fret of the A string, and pinky on the 3rd fret of the D string. Okay, that's the first chord. The second chord we move these whole power chord from up a string. Just like that, so the A string 1st fret, D string 3rd fret, G string 3rd fret. I'm going to lay my middle finger down here to mute out my low E string so it doesn't ring out. Okay. So the first two chords--between those two I'm going to do a little palm muting. I will lay my--the blade side of my right hand here across my strings and--and just pluck them. The first two sounds like this. Now I'm going to slide my whole power chord form up to the 4th fret of the low E string, 4th fret, 6th fret, 6th fret. Move the whole power form from up a string. These four chords put together slowly, they sound like this. Now when you get to the verse part of the song all you gotta do is lay the pad of your index finger across the 1st fret of the B in the high E strings, it sounds like this. Nothing to it, okay.
