"Another type of lens is a telephoto lens. Generally, a telephoto lens is going to range from somewhere between a hundred and three hundred millimeters. These are, these are really excellent to have because they allow you to get up and personal with a subject without actually being right in their face with your camera. I use them a lot for sports because you're not allow on the field. So got to do what you can from the sidelines. So a telephoto lens is going to help you get closer to your subject. You see here, I've got my telephoto lens which ranges from one hundred to three hundred millimeters. And what I do. I pop off my standard lens. And always keep the camera face down. You don't want to get any dust on your sensors. And then, your telephotos screw on just like so. Most lenses have little markers that would indicate where you need you to line them up with the camera body. You can see, this has a white dot here and a red dot there. So you put the dots together and voila you got your telephoto lens attached giving you greater zoom than your standard lens. And allowing you to get up close and personal. An example of when you might need to use a telephoto lens, I was photographing this statue. It was a really, really tall statue, but I wanted to focus on just the face and the light wrapping around the face of the statue. So I think I used about a hundred and twenty millimeters on this. And it allowed me to get up close and personal really isolate the subject and fill the frame with the subject which is very important when taking photographs. So when you're out shopping for your camera and lenses, a telephoto lens is a very important one to have in your group. It'll come in handy when you can't get up and personal. And it'll allow you to get some of those gritty details that you might not see with a normal lens."
