How to Sing Falsetto

"JAMES MENY: Falsetto is real simple. It's a style choice. Very few people actually sing on falsetto with the exception of one type of singer, which is considered or called a countertenor, which is basically a baritone singing up in their falsetto and developing that voice. The pluses of falsetto is that, yes, there are genres in music that you can make a living doing it, as we said, in countertenor music. You'll hear it in some pop music as a stylistic choice. Falsetto has nothing to do with having extended the range. Basically, what it's doing is you're pulling the chords very tight and you're blowing a massive amount of air through the chords and letting the edges of the chords vibrate. Very similar to if you took a Coke bottle and you blew against the top of the Coke bottle and make that hooty sound. That's what you're doing in falsetto."
