"Hi my name is Gary Schutt and I’m going to talk to you about shredding. Shredding is a type of rock-guitar playing which is basically pretty fast. Fast and flashy stuff, lots of fast picking, tapping, legato licks, whammy bar trick, just anything that’s fast and cool and fancy, that will knock your socks off and it helps to have a lot of distortion. Please do us all a favor and try not to become one of those mechanical robot shredders with no emotion that just plays fast and tasteless and unmusical. Try and listen to some really good shredders like Joe Satriani, that actually put some emotion and feeling into their playing as well as playing really cool fast stuff. "
