So, the last thing you need to worry about once you've got everything on the wall is preservation. How long do you want this thing to last? Ordinary acrylic paints will last for years before they start to fade or anything like that, and you want to try to keep them out of direct sunlight as much as possible and definitely you're going to want to seal them. Now, there are two--the two easiest ways to do this is either with a varnish or a spray sealant. I like to use a spray; it's a lot faster and you can get a much more even coverage. Also, it's very difficult to find a brush-on sealant that is matte finish. For full finishing with marble or wood grain or something like that, you usually want to go with a satin or gloss and that will just bring out the texture and the brushwork and really give it a beautiful finish. For landscapes, you always want to go matte. That means it's a flat finish, you're not going to get any shine. Obviously, when you look out this window at the landscape you don't want to have a glare in the sky or on the hillsides. So, with a good quality finish and some regular upkeep, maybe wipe it down with some warm water once a year, keep the dust off of it, your mural should last for years and years and years.
