"The first thing we're going to go over is our basic step. I'm going to show you the lady's part. There are 8 counts in the music, but we're only going to be stepping on 6 of them. We've got 6 steps and 2 pauses. It's going to look like this. I'm going to show you first and then I'll turn around and break it down. We're going to go 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 7. The first thing we're going to notice ladies is that my hands are not by side. They're not here. They're not in my pockets. What we want to do is hold them hanging comfortably at waist level. We call this home base. Any time we're not using our hands, this is where we want them to be. Arms up, shoulders back, knees are going to be slightly bent. Here's our step. We're going to take our right foot and step back on 1, in place with the left on 2, together on 3, we pause on 4, and then we're going to do the opposite. Forward with the left foot, 5, in place, 6, together, 7. All together it goes back, together, forward, and together. This is 1, 2, 3, pause, 4, 5, 6, 7, pause, 8, 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 7. Now, a quick note. I did say to bring your feet together, but we actually do is kind of step through the middle to give it more flow. We don't want it to look jerky like this. Stop and go. We want it to flow, so what we're going to do is step through the middle. We're going to go back first. Back and step through, forward and step through. That way it has more flow and it's not so jerky. 5, 6, 7, 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 7."
