"Hi! I'm Eileen O'Brien for Expert Village and Suncoast Dance Academy. In this clip, we will be demonstrating pique's. A movement moving across the floor for our beginner ballet. Demonstrating for me is Jolynn Stevens and before we do the actual step, we are going to point out several important qualities of this step. She is doing a pleaye on her supporting leg. The knee is over the toes, her right leg extended. As she steps onto that right leg, her left leg comes up in a passe position, the toes slide down the leg and replace the leg that she was standing on. Pique means to step onto a straight leg and it is important the dancer pushes her hip completely over that leg that she is stepping onto. As you can see, she is doing that beautifully and she is doing it onto a flat foot. Now Jolynn will demonstrate it going into a relavae position on pique and down, and up and down, beautiful. Shoulders are nice and square, hips are nice and square and back pique. That was a beautiful pique Jolynn. That concludes our piques. "
