"Hi, my name's Elissa with Expert Village and today I'm going to show you how to crochet a beanie. Now that youv'e gotten your beanie to the right size and length that you need, you always want to finsih it off with a finishing stitch. What that's going to do is just bind up the edge to keep it nice and clean. So how your'e going to do this is very similar to a chain stitch. What your'e going to do is put the hook through the stitch, in front of the yarn, behind the yarn and and pull it through, but your'e also going to pull it through the second loop as well. So it's one motion there. So your'e going to go through the next stitch, put the hook through the stitch, in front of the yarn, behind the yarn, and pull it through both loops. You want to continue around doing your finishing stitch, it's just gonna kinda tighten up the edge and keep it nice and clean so that your stitches don't unravel. Through the hole, in front of the yarn, behind the yarn, and pull it through both loops. So once youv'e gotten down to the very end, where you need, its time to tie off. What you want to to before you make your tie off, give yourself several inches to cut off. Cut your thread. All you need to do put your hook through the stitch and pull it completely through, pull it all the way through and then pull it through one more time just to reinforce. Make a little knot. Pull it tight. Then your'e all ready to go, and just snip that off. So that's how you do the finishing stitch and tieing off on your beanie. "
