"Hi, my names Allysa with Expert Village and today I'm going to show you how to crochet a beanie. I'm going to show you how to get started crocheting your beanie. We're going to start off with some pretty thick yarn. This is going to be good for beginners to work with, because it's really easy to work with. I'm using my 6 1/2 millimeter crochet hook. The first step in crocheting a beanie is to make a slip knot. What you want to do is make a loop with your yarn and you want to cross the tail over on top and put your index and thumb finger through the loop from behind and pull the rest of the yarn through to make your slip knot. I will show you that again. Cross your yarn over, put your index and thumb through the loop, and pull the rest of the yarn through. Once you have that slip knot, put your hook through the loop, and tighten it. I will show you that again. You are going to cross your yawn over, put your index and thumb through the loop, and pull the rest of the yarn through. Put your hook through the loop, and tighten it. That is a basic slip knot and you are always going to need to use that whenever you crochet any project."
