I'm here to talk to you about recording midi in garageband. Now in order to record midi you don't actually have to have a midi controller because there are options with garageband that will let you record midi directly from your computer. But it's good to have a midi controller if you want to have a really carefully controlled sound. I use this midi sympathizer to put my midi notes to the computer it has a cable that goes out of it and directly into my computer through USB. To set up a midi track go into track, select new track, and choose software instrument track now you have a new track which is going to be used with your midi. In garageband the default setting is grand piano but you can use all sorts of different choices. Once you have your track selected go down to the record button down here hit record, and then play on your midi instrument. Now that you entered your midi notes you see this green arrow here with these little dots this is what you just recorded. The green area indicates that it's midi and each of these little dots is a note and if you double click on it and you look down here you can see each of the different notes. And later on if you want to you can edit these notes by moving them around or making them longer, garageband gives us many different options for sounds to use with our midi. So there's all sorts of pianos, organs, guitars, symth anything you want you can use, midi is a fantastic tool and garageband gives us many options for creating midi and them minupulating it.
