" Hi! My name is Connie Hale and thank you for joining me here at expertvillage.com. We are going over some beginning ballet moves. We are going to add on now our positions for the arms along with the feet. First position of feet we had with heels together, arms to join along with that. First position of arms is simply meeting right down together at the stomach. Picture as if you are holding two round balls in your arms nice and round. Second position the feet open that is just as the arms do as well. Third position foot slides in to meet the middle. Third position arm comes up, one over the head and the other extended out to the side. Fourth position we are going to slide it forward to our feet and the arm comes in. Here is our fourth position arms. Fifth position the feet come in and hands meet up together at the ceiling. Again, let's go through that and you can see how that flows. We begin in first, out to second, bring it in to third, to fourth and to fifth. Facing the side so you can see; fist position, second, third, fourth and fifth. Those are your basic positions for the arms. "

on 9/30/2008 Hi Connie - I am teaching ballet now and I was taught the arms positions differently as a child, but I know there are different methods (Vaganova, Cecchetti, RAD). Can you tell me which method these arm positions match with?
Thanks,
Carrie
