"Hi, this is Caleb on behalf of Expert Village. In this clip I'm going to talk about the importance of using reference footage. When you do any kind of animation especially a walk cycle. Because animation is a lot of acting sometimes you need to look at existing bits of reality before you animate. For a walk cycle it's really important that you understand who your character is are they confident, are they slouchy, do they walk fast, do they walk slow, do the legs kick high in the air when they walk? Do they swing their arms? Do there head bob a lot? A lot of these things you can take into consideration when you do a walk cycle and one of the things that you can do to prepare for this and study the movement of the character. Is to shoot some video and either act it out yourself or maybe you can find someone to help you act it out in front of the camera. "
