In this clip I'd like to show you what we would wear in performance when we're doing Lamban. The dance that we've been working on is a celebrational dance and you would wear a grand boubou. A grand boubou is very light and airy. It's open on the sides and it has one place for your head since you only have one head. In some areas of Africa this is also known as an agbada. So a grand boubou or an agbada is the costume that's worn when you're doing Lamban. Now once you're in it correctly you have open space for the hands and I have the corners tied just to give it a little extra weight. Also because I don't want to step on it. So when we're dancing Lamban, you're stretching your hands out wide and holding on to your material so that way when you do your movements, you can control it.
