"I'm going to show you the most common way to hold a baton, and why I believe that it's the most effective. This is the conducting baton. A conducting baton should be held straight out. You a want a conducting baton to be an extension of your arm. Some people hold the conducting baton in a crosswise motion like this, and I think that really defeats the purpose because this, this does not, it breaks the, the plane, the continuous plane of your arm. This is the proper way to hold it. Your hand is an underhand grip. Your thumb and forefinger touch each other and you hold it straight out in front of you."
