"Hi! I’m Angela Sage Larsen. Today, we’re going to talk about publishing your own children’s story. Please visit my web site at petalwinkthefairy.com. To help you get to your overall vision of the book, it’s helpful to do a storyboard. You can do this on a computer or I just did mine by hand by sketching out the spreads. Now, a spread is the two pages that are facing each other together and how they are going to look right next to each other. You’re going to want to think about multiples of eight, because whether it’s printed at home or whether it’s printed with a professional printer, you’re going to have the front side, the back side, the front side, and the back side of the pages. I like to design a spread at a time. So this will help you with the flow of the story not only the illustrations, but the writing of it. For instance, if I know that I’m going to work in some text on this side of the page and on this side of the page. Then on the next page, as it flows over, then I think do I want to repeat the same idea or am I going to do something totally different where I have the text on this side of the page, and the rest of the illustrations flowing around it."
