"Hello! I am Annie Brunson on behalf of Expert Village. Today we’re going to learn about chords and chord progressions. We’re going to start off with triads, starting in the key of C. The first note, we’re going to build on top of that with a major third. So if you notice, you’ve got… 1, 2…3 notes in between these 2 notes. Then we’re going to add the final note to this triad by adding a G. If you notice, there are 2 notes in between these. It falls very nicely under the hand. This is a C chord. It is a triad. Now let us see if we can play an F chord. Take the F… 1, 2, 3 in between, so your major third to start of with then just 2 in between the next 2 notes. This is an F chord, moving just one up will be a G chord. Now, the importance of these 3 chords are that they fit well together in many, many songs. Sometimes the chord that is in the key is called the root chord or chord #1. We start the F chord on note #4, so this is called sometimes chord #4. The G is started on the fifth note of the scale so this is called the fifth chord. So we have 1, 4, 5. "
