"I'm going to demonstrate another accent technique that I don't think I've ever seen anybody play before. But, just toying around with the tambourine, I came up with, and you can do a lot of really cool things with it. We talked about accenting the quarter note into the palm of your hand. I figured out, if you want to accent the offbeat, or when the tambourine's coming away from your hand, you can do that if you already have your hand in this position. You can kind of wrap your fingers around the tambourine and hit what I call a back accent. Regular accent, back accent, there's kind of the idea right there. And really, just by experimenting with different rhythmic patterns and playing that over straight time, you can come up with a lot of really cool patterns."
