How to Make a Holiday Gift List

"Hello my name's Melissa Schenk and on behalf of Expert Village today we're going to be talking about how to cut down on holiday spending. In this segment, let's talk about making a gift list. So when we think about all of our holiday things that we need to spend our money on and we're making a budget, so first we have, let's say an overall budget for where we want to spend our money this holiday season. So let's say it is you know, five hundred dollars, or it's a thousand dollars, or it's two thousand dollars on everything. We need to chop that down into where do we want to section out, you know, five hundred dollars? Is it going towards holiday gifts? How much are we going to divide up for holiday tips, and incidentals, and so on. So that leads us to making a gift spending worksheet. When we're making our gift spending worksheet then, it can look something like this. I've made it a little bit larger for you to have a look at of course. But jot down the names of people you want to buy for this holiday season, some gift ideas to get you started, and what you want to budget on the spending. We'll get into some different ways on to save money in future clips and later clips. But for now, budget for how much you want to spend on each of those people, and then when you start to go out and do your shopping, make a list over here. These are the two most important sections of this list, the actual spending, what you did spend, and then the amount that you were over and under so that you can tweak your budget as you go. "
