"Hi! I'm Karina Fraley for Expert Village and tonight we're talking about Halloween safety tips for trick or treating. You're going to come home with a lot of candy. Your children are going to want it all and you're going to be tempted to give it to them all, because after all they did work hard for it. There are some things that you're going to want to remember. Just because it's Halloween, doesn't mean that you're going to want give your young child, a toddler for example, any sort of choking hazard. Not all candy is safe for all children. You're going to want to keep in mind that anything like a gumball or a lollipop that can become detached from a stick or any sort of hard candy are choking hazards for young children and should just be taken away immediately. If it becomes an issue of your child feeling as if they're not getting as much candy as their older sibling, for example. You might want to have some candy stashed in the house that you can replace it with. You might encourage your older child to exchange candy with your younger child for something that is age appropriate and safe for your a younger child, or you might want to just buy little trinkets that are safe and not choking hazards. Again, just because it's Halloween, doesn't meant that your child gets to eat every single piece of candy that the collected themselves."
