"Hi! I'm Doug. I work with twenty great guys in St. Louis at Doug Jenkins Custom Hot Rods and we're going to do some work for you today on Expert Village. Dave is installing muffler clamps to hold the tail pipe into the muffler. They should be tight enough to hold the pipe in place and not so tight that you break the muffler clamp or deform the pipe too much with excessive pressure. The muffler, tail pipe, exhaust pipe mounting system all depends on muffler clamps. There's one here holding the tail pipe to the vehicle, there's clamps holding the tail pipe and the exhaust pipe to the muffler and a clamp holding the exhaust pipe to the vehicle just ahead of the muffler. All of these need to be tightened in the correct order in order to get everything to line up correctly and not deform anything. The muffler clamp needs to be installed as close to the edge of the pipe as possible; you want to be at the strongest point of the flange where it exits the muffler. The further away from the muffler you get, the easier it is to deform the flange as it comes out of the muffler."
