Attaching Punty to a Cylinder for Glassblowing

" Hi! I’m Jim McKelvey with Third Degree Glass Factory in St. Louis. You can check us out on the web at www.stlglass.com. Today, we’re going to learn about glassblowing for expertvillage.com. Okay, so we’re waiting ready to punty our cylinder. Fern’s got a nice punty made. I take the tweezers; I lean out and I look for the center. Touch it down very lightly and then turn and make sure that’s on center. That looks pretty good. Once I’m satisfied that it’s on center, I can start chilling my jack lines here. Now, I’ve got a pretty good set of jack lines in this piece, so it should break very easily, but if you don’t I’ll show you a couple of tricks that will help break those jack lines. So, make sure that Fern’s piece is nice and solid. She says it is. I put a little drop of water here and tap it with the back of the jacks or with the back of the tweezers rather. This is the part of the tweezers that you want to use to break the piece. You want to tap it like that, not like that. This will work sometimes, that will work better. "
