Hello, I'm Lori Lahnemann, Director of The Philadelphia Dance Academy and The Philadelphia Youth Ballet and in this video we're going to show you how to do a correct retire often called a passe position. We'll demonstrated it with a wrapped coupe starting in your fifth position, the heel will lift, the toes will wrap around the ankle, the toe will draw a line up the leg so it never leaves the leg which is a common mistake and then the toe is placed right underneath the kneecap or sometimes to the side of the knee with the thigh opening and the knee directly side. This can also be done with a pointed foot to the front in coupe or coming from the back in a fully pointed foot. Again I'm Lori Lahnemann from The Philadelphia Dance Academy and in this video we showed you how to do a correct retire position.
