Hi everyone, this is Gene and I'm a graphic designer and illustrator. I've been working in the industry for about 15 years and so today we're going to talk about frescos. Now a fresco is a mural that's executed on plaster and they originated in ancient times back when more buildings were made out of plaster. It was one of the earliest building materials that we have. Of course now we use wood and metal and all sorts of things to build our houses but this mural painting style was popular all the way through the Italian Renaissance, the word actually comes from Latin meaning fresh. So this painting style popular from ancient times through the Renaissance. Then it kind of declined in popularity for a while and it enjoyed a recent revival in the 20th century. So anyway, that's what a fresco is. If you have any other questions, please feel free to let us know and thanks for watching.
