Hi, my name is Abbeth. I'm an artist out of Portland, Maine, and I'm going to show you a paint technique for splotches. A round brush, like this one, with fairly soft bristles is good for painting splotches. Dip into your turpentine, and water down your paint a bit. In this case I'm gonna start out with some yellow, and mix it up until you have a nice, turpentiney, watered down oil paint. Then, you're going to kind of drop your brush onto the page, and loosely just roll it around by holding the top of it like that. I'll show you again with a darker color like this red. And you can also, like really let your paint drop down onto the page. And, just allow it to sort of do its own thing, and kind of bleed onto the paper. Like that. My name is Abbeth, and I just showed you how to create splotches with oil paint.
