Hi guys, I'm Justin Z. I am a Los Angeles filmmaker and freelance editor, and I've been getting some basic questions about filmmaking techniques including this one, how to promote your movie or movie promotion techniques. Well, as an independent filmmaker, you can get away with a lot of promotion for very little money or no money. The internet is an extremely powerful tool. Here are a couple of basic techniques but you want to do some research of your own as well. The first is you want to create your own website for the film. It is very easy to make a professional looking website. It is nearly free or entirely free and you can get a domain name for pennies on the dollar. Basically it's like $10 a year or $20 a year, not very much at all. The next thing you want to do is get involved with social sites like Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, blog, journalism, things like that. Facebook is great because you can tell all your friends about it and you can ask them to spread the word to their friends. Most people have a couple hundred friends on their Facebook so that's automatically right there and if you have good loyal friends who can help you spread the word, even better. Another great thing about Facebook is it is not limited to pages of people. You can create pages for companies, pages for films, pages for anything. So you definitely want to create something like that and also Facebook has options for buying advertising so other people can see it. The biggest thing is to learn how to use search engine optimization or SEO which you will hear a lot if you are involved in the internet. Basically what that means is that you use things like Google or other companies to optimize the manner in which people can find your website. So use special keywords, use tags, make sure your domain name is easy to understand, things like that. Definitely do a lot of research into it. But basically create a website, get a Facebook going, get involved in other social sites and learn a lot about SEO or search engine optimization. That's all there is to it with this. If you have any questions about it, please feel free to ask.
