Hi, this is Nicholas Larocci, the home source guy, president and owner of Source Development Inc., a residential and commercial construction company in Garnerville, New York, and this is how to dissolve grout to remove tile. So essentially, dissolving grout is removing the grout. So, when they say dissolving, you use a diamond-type blade, whether it's for a reciprocating saw, or whether it's a manual grout tile saw. But this particular item right here, this oscillating machine with a grout removal bit is just ideal. This is the greatest thing since sliced bread actually. These oscillating saws are great. They're diamond-coated, and they're thing to get into almost any joint. Which comes in handy in our example here, because we have a very thin mosaic floor here. So trying to keep the grout, the oscillating saw centered in the grout joint, making sure we get down to the bottom, or to the thin set layer, completely, around the entire tile, and it's okay if you go passed the tile. It's actually better I think, it's easier to remove a tile if you had to. Gonna brush out the joint. Make sure we've reached the thin set layer. So once we've dissolved the grout around the perimeter of the tile, we're ready to remove the tile if you have to. This applies to actually touching up the grout as well. So, if you had to remove the tile, you'd take a punch or a heavy screwdriver right in the center, and just break up the tile. Once your tile's broken up, you can just remove it. The most precautionary note that I could make it that when you're actually remove it, the shards are very sharp first of all, but when you're removing it, be careful not to get, to damage the edge of the adjoining tile, and work your way out from the center, I wanna remove as much of the thin set layer as you can, so when you're rebedding the tile, you've allowed for the room of a new adhesion layer. Just brush it away. And this was how to dissolve a tile grout joint to remove a tile. This is Nicholas Larocci, the home source guy, president and owner of Source Development Inc., a commercial and residential construction company in Garnerville, New York, helping you build a better life. We'll see you next time.
