I'm Emily Loftiss. I'm a former Radio City Rockette and professional dancer here in New York City. The question for today is what is the monkey? What a fun, fun question. So the monkey was originated in 1963 in the club scene in New York and so it's very easy. Anyone all ages can do this. You need to make sure you're low down to the ground. You're going to bend your knees and you're just going to swivel back and forth and kind of bounce down, down, down, down, down, down, corner to corner, no big deal and your arms are just going to go right and left and right and left. It's kind of like the jerk but we're going to go back and forth. So if you add it together, you're just going to go one, two, three, four, one, two, three, four, one, two, three, four, one, two, three, four and just like anything you can go faster, you can go slower and the more you get your entire body into it, kind of like jumping back and forth and your head, the more fun you're going to have. So let's go wild, one, two, three, four, one, two, three, four. I think you should definitely pull this out at the next party that you're at. If you have any other questions please go to and check out my blog, Loftiss Says.
