I'm Emily Loftiss, a former Radio City Rockette and professional dancer here in New York City. The question is: What is vogue dancing? Well you're brain's automatically going to go to Madonna's Vogue from 1990 but before that it actually was originated in 1960 in New York in the LGBT community. It was part of "vogueing" which means that you are getting angular, very strong poses and you don't really move your legs. It's just very model like. And you're giving off attitude, diva is what they always like to say. And so it really originated in 1960 in New York City. So I'll give you a couple of examples of what "vogueing" is. Just pose, pose, pose, very easy. Anyone can do it. Because you know models just kind of stand there. It's the exact same thing. You don't have to be well versed in dance. You just hit a pose, vogue, vogue, vogue, vogue, vogue, vogue, vogue. So for any other more questions please find me at my website, emilyloftiss.com and my blog loftisssays.
