I'm Marcus Gerakos and I'm a guitarist based here in the L.A. area. I do a lot of work on film and television soundtracks out here. And today's question is, how to get a clear recording out of your guitar. Now some of that has to do with the engineer, the type of microphones used, what room you're recording in, the position of the mics and things like that, but you, as the guitarist can also have a lot to do with how clear the sound is, as it's going down to tape. One thing I would definitely avoid, if you're recording a guitar track, is maintaining pressure on your strings and then trying to move. That's how you get this. That sound. Some people like this sound. I'm not one of those people. I like a nice clean transition, between chords. Let's say if you're recording, let's say, that chord, to that chord. G Major to A Major. If you don't pick up your fingers, you get this. If you do pick up your fingers you've got this. You get more note and less extraneous finger noise. I'm Marcus Gerakos and this has been, how to get a clear recording sound on the guitar.
