I'm Marcus Gerakos. I'm a guitarist here based in LA. I do a lot of live performance, studio work for television and for film. Today I'm going to talk about how to make a sharp note or how to play a sharp note on the guitar. First of all let's take a look at our twelve note system. There are five what are called sharp notes and there are seven natural notes. The seven natural notes are A, B, C, D, E, F and G. The five sharp notes would be A sharp, C sharp, D sharp, F sharp and G sharp. Let's see where those are. On E1, open note is E which is a natural note, F is natural, F sharp is on fret 2, G sharp is on fret 4, A sharp is on fret 6, C sharp is on fret 9, D sharp is on fret 11. On the B string, B is a natural note, so is C, C sharp - fret 2, D sharp - fret 4, F sharp - fret 7, G sharp - fret 9, A sharp - fret 11. On the G3 string, G sharp - fret 1, A sharp - fret 3, C sharp - fret 6, D sharp - fret 8, F sharp - fret 11. So this is the idea. You notice you have your natural notes. So every note on the guitar that is not one of the natural notes meaning A, let's see, B, C, D, E, F, G. Any note that's not one of those seven is a sharp note. Again, A sharp, C sharp, D sharp, F sharp, G sharp, A sharp, etc. I'm Marcus Gerakos and this has been how to play sharp notes on a guitar.
