My name is Mike Eyia. I am a tenor saxophonist in Los Angeles. I play all around LA with various groups. I also do a lot of work in the studio. Today we're going to answer the question in what can you soak a plastic alto sax mouthpiece to clean it. When you're cleaning a mouthpiece out your best bet is to draw some hot water just as if you're washing dishes or something like that. You can clean it with dish soap, you can use regular hand soap. You could use some sort of all purpose cleaner, just anything that's going to break down the gunk in the sax. Hot water is also very important. Also one of the things that you can do that will clean it even better is to get one of those mouthpiece swabs from the music store that will fit perfectly inside the mouthpiece. You can swab it out that way. My name is Mike Eyia and that answers the question of in what can you soak a plastic alto sax mouthpiece to clean it.
