Hi, my name is Jessica and I'm an artist and today we're going to work on drawing and shading a cylinder. So as you may or may not know a cylinder has this round top, it's kind of an oval and the lines that come down and then the bottom piece echoes the curve at the top. So it's a very similar kind of a shape. Now that we have our cylinder, this cylinder is kind of short and chubby but you can do much taller, more slender cylinders if you prefer. And so depending on the way that the cylinder is shaded is going to be again based on the light source. So say the light is shining direction onto the cylinder, this is where the light is going to hit it and then the shade is going to be on the side. So you can just draw some lines and use your pencil or your pens or your markers and basically shade in the sides and as you get closer to the edge, let he shading lighten up a little bit and thin out a little bit until you have just one big bright piece of space here at the top. And then to shade the top we're just going to put a little bit of color and some lines along the edges, just like that. So again if you were to do it on this one it would be the same kind of idea, a little bit of shadow on the edge and as it gets a little closer, it's just all bright and the way that you accentuate that is you just leave it blank. And that is how you draw a cylinder.
