Hi, my name is Jessica and I'm an artist and today we're going to draw shadows on clothing. So we're going to draw a dress and then I'm going to show you how to put shadows on the dress. So we've got just a very simple dress, just kind of a sun dress almost that comes down. Now when we are talking about shadows and where they're going to be on this dress, it really depends on where the sun is coming from. If it's coming from this side, this is going to be the light side and th shadow is going to be on the other side. So just take your pencil or your marker and just do a little bit of sort of little short marks on the other side away from where the sun is all along the article of clothing. As you can see, this is a dress so we're going to have the shadow go down the side of the dress and it can also come a little bit along the bottom on this side too because it is not facing that sun. And then there would be some on maybe the underarm here because that is also not facing the sun and so for example if your person were in the dress they would also have some shadow on this side of their face and same with their legs, the shadow would be on this side. And then if say for example there's like a wrinkle in the dress or something like that, the shadow would be also on the other side of the wrinkle because it would be away from the direction of the sun like so. And that is how you draw shadows on clothing.
