Hi there, Roger Burnley, vocal coach here in Hollywood, California. Today, I'm going to talk about making vocals clear. How can you make your vocals clear? Okay, so, first of all, let's talk about how you make a, how that sound is being created from your vocal chords coming together. Now, there are several different factors that are going one, give you a clear or clean sound. As I like to also call it at times. But there are several different things that may affect that. When your vocal chords are smooth, are clean, it means there's no damage. There's nothing that you have done to them, that would cause some physical problem. Then, what happens is, they're able to come together, aah, and make a very clean sound. If there is some sort of irritation on them. If you've been singing, you've been pushing the night before, and you've created some sort of you know, damage to them. Then, your vocal chords can become a little swollen or inflamed. You've all experienced that when you wake up in the morning, sometimes and your voice isn't quite there, that's what it is. But I'm going to give you a little example on an exercise here. That's just going to show you how if they're in a really good place. How the chords can come together to make a really clean sound. I'm just going to play an exercise that I use on just on the lip trill, I think, you'll hear it. Now, as I'm going higher, you'll hear the chords are coming together. Now, because they're coming together, and there's not any inflammation, or other physical problems going on. You're able to create a clean sound. Other things that can interfere with that are, like I said, different kinds of inflammation, if you've been over using the chords in the incorrect way. If you've got some you know, what are called polyps or nodules, those are really bad and you'll not be able to get a clean sound. But basically, that's the idea, and I want you to understand how to create that really clean sound when you're singing. So, again, this is Roger Burnley in Hollywood, California, giving you the idea of how to create a clean vocal sound.
