Sears Lawn Mower Parts

Save

Sears sells many brand lawn mowers. Some of these, such as Craftsman walk-behind and riding mowers, are produced exclusively for Sears. Other mowers, such as those produced by Poulan, can be purchased through a number of retailers, of which Sears is just one. Complete schematic diagrams with labeled parts can be found for every mower and lawn tractor sold by Sears on the Sears Parts Direct website. Many of these diagrams have links to replacement parts for purchase.

Control Bar

  • Control bars are common walk-behind mower parts. As available on Sears-sold machines such as the Poulan 20-inch rotary mower, model number PP835A, the control bar is a small piece of metal that attaches to the uppermost portion of a lawnmower’s handle. Control bars allow gardeners to control the forward motion of a lawnmower and the speed at which the mower is traveling. The part operates like a gas pedal on a car; the further down it is held, the faster the machine will go. Releasing the control bar completely will cause the mower to stop.

Transmission

  • Transmission is a part in all riding mowers and lawn tractors sold by Sears. The Transmission-tuff torq k71e is one such transmission, and is used in riding mowers such as the Craftsman tractor, model number 107289850. Transmission is an engine component that transfers the power of the engine to the wheels of a vehicle. Thus transmission enables riding mower motility. The Transmission-tuff torq k71e is itself a 22-part micro machine; components include bolts, seals, washers, caps, rings, pins and bearings.

Frame

  • A lawnmower’s frame is its exterior. The frame of a mower is composed of the central body of the machine, and houses all interior parts integral to mower functionality, including the engine. On Sears-sold mowers like the Husqvarna Tractor model number 966455801, the frame is a series of bars, springs, plates and adhering pieces like bolts. These parts house the engine, and serve as the outline for the plastic housing of the mower. Walk-behind mowers have less complicated frames.

Transaxle

  • Transaxle is a walk-behind mower part. It is used in Sears-sold walk-behind mowers such as the Craftsman mower model number 9178360. A transaxle is a hybrid part that combines portions of the transmission and gear shaft. It is has a number of applications. In simple machines like a walk-behind mower, a transaxle takes power from the engine and transfers it to the wheels, while also transferring instructions from the control bar as to how fast the wheels should be turning.
