Golf Window Treatments

The golf decorating theme incorporates the hobby of golf enthusiasts into the decor. It works well in many rooms, particularly a study, family room or game room. Adding golf-themed window treatments tops off the room's decor, adding emphasis to the windows. Whether you want to make window treatments or purchase them, there are several creative ideas for the golf theme.

Putting Green Valance

  • This simple homemade window treatment uses green indoor/outdoor carpet or similar grass-like material. Cut the material to match the width of the window so it doesn't bunch up on the curtain rod. This results in a more realistic look. A circle cut near one end of the material creates a golf hole for the putting green valance--a piece of black or white fabric glued to the back of the curtain under the hole finishes it. Curtain clips hold the valance onto a curtain rod. Hot-glue a golf ball onto the putting green valance for added detail.

Golf-Patterned Fabric

  • A golf-patterned fabric offers a simple solution for a golf-themed window treatment. Retailers that sell curtains and home furnishings are likely to offer at least one golf-themed commercial curtain option. Or consider a golf-themed shower curtain for use over a window. If you can't locate a commercial option you like, homemade curtains are another option. Find fabric with a golf pattern and sew your own simple valances or curtains. If you don't feel comfortable sewing the curtains, hire a seamstress to do the work for you.

Golf Flags

  • A series of golf hole flags is another valance option for the golf decorating theme. Glue or sew enough golf flags together to stretch across the width of the window. Choose plain or printed golf flags, or add your own designs to the flags using paint. Curtain clips hold the golf flags to a curtain rod, or glue the flags directly to a flat curtain rod if you prefer.

Stenciled Golf Designs

  • Plain curtains get a golf makeover with stamps or stencils. Use fabric paint in contrasting colors with stencils or stamps that have golf images. This option gives you more flexibility because you can add as few or as many of the images as you like. You can make a border of golf stencils around the edges or scatter them around the entire curtain. Give the fabric paint plenty of drying time before hanging the window treatment.

Golf Club Curtain Rod

  • An old golf club doubles as a creative curtain rod to emphasize the room's theme. Curtain clips and curtain rings work well with a golf club curtain rod. Simply slide the hooks onto the shaft of the golf club before hanging it horizontally on a pair of curtain rod holders. The golf club curtain rod works well with any golf-themed window treatments.
