The German company Bosch produces consumer and commercial products and solutions, including dishwashers. As of 2011, Bosch offers three types of consumer dishwashers, including ones with concealed and visible controls and custom panels. A common problem with Bosch dishwashers is that they don't drain properly. If you are experiencing this problem, troubleshoot and repair the problem, since you can often fix it on your own.
The drain hose is responsible for capturing the water exiting the tub. It takes this water directly to the household drain. Connect the drain hose directly to your household drain. Clean your home's pipes with either drain products or tools if they are clogged. Contact a plumber if you cannot access the drain. Disconnect the drain hose from the dishwasher, and clean it out with a plastic spoon if the hose is clogged with debris. If you don't have an air gap, install a high drain loop. Attach the drainage hose beneath the countertop, and create a loop. This keeps water from the sink out of the dishwasher tub.
The check valve opens to remove water from the tub. If it doesn't open, clean out any clogs in it. If it still won't open and close, it's defective. Order a new part from a Bosch parts dealer, since this component is difficult to repair. If the pump isn't working correctly, see if it's clogged, and clean it out with a toothpick. Examine the pump, and see if any of the components are broken, especially the impeller. You will need to purchase a new pump, since it's difficult to repair individual components.
If water isn't draining from the tub, see if the motor is actually working. If you have used the dishwasher for a long time, the motor can get stuck. Disconnect the dishwasher from the power source, and remove the main dishwasher housing. Try turning the motor until it freely moves. If it won't move or looks burned out, you must order a new one from a Bosch parts dealer.
Your Bosch dishwasher normally pauses between cycles. If your dishwasher is in the middle of a cycle, close the door, and restart the cycle. Don't open the door again until the cycle is complete. Remove any object that may be blocking the door if the door isn't closing properly. Clean the door gaskets if food particles or detergent has built up on them. Clean the filters on the base of the tub if they are dirty. Run the dishwasher to clear it, and remove the knockout plug on your garbage disposal if it's still installed.
