All things glittery, silver and gold are fair game when planning a "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star" costume. Whether celebrating a child's first Halloween or dressing up for a Mother Goose party, star costumes can be easy to make, using common house hold items. Of course one of the very best additions to any "Twinkle, Twinkle" costume is to sing the classic children's song or play a version of it from a hidden MP3 player.
Cut out two large cardboard stars, big enough to cover the torso. Glue yellow felt over the cardboard. Sprinkle silver and gold glitter over the felted star. Tape battery-operated Christmas lights around the edges of the stars. Pin the stars onto the torso of a sparkly princess dress.
Cut out three cardboard stars, each around 2 inches in diameter. Cover stars in aluminum foil. Hot glue one star to a headband and another to the top of a wand. Tape the third star onto a black turtleneck and pair with black pants.
Glow in the Dark
Affix glow-in-the-dark star stickers to a black dress or T-shirt and slacks. Apply roll-on glitter to the face, careful to avoid the eyes, and hands. Paint fingernails silver or gold and wear silver or gold lipstick.
Translate the song lyrics "Up above the world so high/ Like a diamond in the sky" into a "Twinkle, Twinkle" costume. Cut out a cardboard circle and paint on continents in green and the ocean in blue. Affix the cardboard world to the front of a T-shirt. Wear a headband with a lightweight costume jewelry diamond attached.
