What Does the Error Message "LE" Mean on the LG Dishwasher?
When using a LG dishwasher, you may come across an error code that flashes on the LCD screen. There are around 10 different codes, and one of them is the "LE" code. While some technicians suggest that there could be a motor error, the "LE" code is usually a broken wire that connects the controls to the dishwasher motor. With a little work, you can fix the wires yourself and save money on repairs. Does this Spark an idea?

Identification
-
There are two similar looking codes on LG dishwashers. The "IE" error code has to do with water inlet problems and requires a replacement hose on the dishwasher. This is completely different from the "LE" error, so make sure that your LCD screen displays the capital L and not just a straight line.
Code Clear
-
Some codes appear on accident. Hold the "Start" button on the dishwasher for 30 seconds to reset the code. Unplug the dishwasher for 30 seconds, plug it back in and then try to run the cycle. If the code does not appear, then your dishwasher should operate fine. If the code appears again, you will need to repair the appliance.

Door Removal
-
Remove the dishwasher door to access the broken wires. Unplug the dishwasher and pull its door open. Go along the inside frame of the dishwasher and remove all the visible screws. Set them aside in a bowl. Once all the screws are removed, gently pull off the door to the dishwasher.
Insulation
-
Behind the door is a padded section of insulation that covers wires and helps keeps noise down. Pull this away without ripping it. It is bonded by glue, but is easily removable and can reattach while still bonding.
Wire Examination
-
Look down on the bottom section of the dishwasher. There will be a small plastic tube that holds blue and gray colored wires. Remove the two plastic clips to access the wires and look for any breakage.
Solder the Wires
-
If the wires are broken, strip them down about 1/2 inch on each side. Use a soldering tool to reattach the wires and cover the bare area with electrical tape. Place the wires back into the tube and reassemble the dishwasher.
Test Run
-
Once everything is assembled, plug the dishwasher back in. Run a cycle and make sure the error code has disappeared.
Warranty
-
If you do not know how to solder wires or are uncomfortable taking apart the dishwasher, contact LG customer service. Your dishwasher could be covered under warranty, and a repair man could fix the problem for free.
