Carrara marble is a beautiful natural stone, normally white with smoky gray veins, and is a luxurious choice for a bathroom vanity top. Because white goes with any other color, you have nearly unlimited choices for your bathroom floor. Feel free to use marble again, or install a floor of an entirely different material.
Many people love the clean look of an all-white bathroom. You could achieve this with white walls, white cabinets and a white floor. Carrara marble tiles that match the vanity top are one possibility for the floor; you could also use one of the new preformed mosaics made of small circles or squares of marble in a pattern, or have a solid floor and use the marble mosaic as a border. White ceramic or glass tiles are an equally valid choice. Don't be afraid to mix materials in your bathroom. Just because you have a marble vanity top doesn't mean you must use marble on the floor. Mixing materials adds interest to the room.
Cool and Restful
Achieve a restful ambiance by using a soft gray that harmonizes with the gray streaks in the marble as your secondary color. You could use gray ceramic tiles on the floor, either white or gray tile or paint on the walls, and gray towels, bathmats and other accessories.
Add a Touch of Wood
In a predominantly white or cool-colored bathroom, finishing the wooden parts of the vanity in a mahogany stain would give an elegant feel. The dark, warm wood tones would provide a pleasing contrast with the rest of the decor and accent the vanity.
Dark Floor or Color
A dark brown or black floor would ground the space and make it look less ethereal than an all-white space. You could achieve this look with tile, another kind of natural stone or even wood, though a wood floor in a bathroom requires special care to prevent damage from water. Dark-colored laminate is another choice. Tiles in any color you please would also look fine with the marble vanity top.
