Crafts for Armed Forces Day
Armed Forces Day, celebrated on the third Saturday in May, stemmed from the unification of all the different branches of the armed forces under the U.S. Department of Defense. Making a craft to wear or display is just one way to show your appreciation to the men and women of the Armed Forces.

Patriotic Planter
-
Paint the bottom part of a small terra cotta planter blue and the band around the top white. Using a stencil, paint white stars on the bottom over the blue paint and red stripes on the top band. Reverse this pattern for variety. Plant some forget-me-nots in the pot in honor of all the men and women who have died in the Armed Forces.
Flag Pin
-
This is an inexpensive craft -- the only supplies you need are six number 4 safety pins, one 2-1/4-inch safety pin without a coil, red, white and blue pony beads and two heart letter beads as well as letter beads spelling out "USA." On three pins, place pony beads, white, red, white and then three blue. On the other three pins, alternate white and red beads three times. Place these safety pins on the pin without the coil, starting with the three with blue beads, alternating with the letter beads: pin, heart, pin, "U," pin, "S," pin, "A," pin, heart.
