As Chevrolet's entry-level compact car, the 2004 Cavalier came standard with only a handful of features, to help keep its price competitive. One of the standard features that made loading and unloading cargo in the Cavalier easier was the split-folding rear seat, which allowed you to lower one or both sides of the rear seatback to slide larger items into the vehicle.
Folding the Rear Seatback
Open the trunk, and find the fabric loops on the top, inside corner of each rear seatback. Pull the loop to unlock the seatback you wish to lower, then lower the seatback from inside the vehicle. To put the seatback into its upright position, simply lift the seatback up and press it back into its original position until you hear it latch into place.
