Sweatshirts have become everyone's wardrobe staple. They are warm, comfortable and casual. They can be worn when exercising or dressed up with a nice leather jacket. They are very versatile. Because of the frequency of their use and the variety of styles of sweatshirt, you may be forced to choose between replacing your sweatshirt with another different style or repairing the rips that will form on any old sweatshirt. Repairing a ripped sweatshirt is moderately easy and can be done at home.

Hold the edges of small tears together using a safety pin.

Sew the edges of small tears back together using a needle and thread that is the same color as the shirt. Remove the safety pin.

Hold the edges of larger rips together using safety pins. Sew the edges that can touch back together using a needle and thread that is the same color as the shirt.

Remove the safety pins. Place an iron-on patch over the larger rip and iron it into place.
