Play pool games. Marco Polo is a classic game; one person is deemed "it" and must close his eyes while calling out "Marco." The other players then swim around and call back "Polo," and "it" must try to tag a player by following the voices.

Stock the party with pool toys. Provide rafts such as funny blow-up alligators or large island rafts that swimmers can share and use to hold their drinks. Swim noodles can provide for lighthearted play, such as swordfighting in the pool. Head to a pool supply store to see what fun items it has.

Play some music to keep your party jamming while guests swim. To give your pool party a beach vibe, for example, play tropical island music. Whatever genre of music you choose, make it upbeat to fit the summertime theme of a pool party.

Provide snacks and drinks for guests at a table set up far enough from the pool that it won't get wet. Playing in a pool can wear you out quickly. When this happens, guests can take a break and enjoy a snack, wait a bit, then dive back in for more fun.

Tips & Warnings
Other pool games include tag, with players sitting on rafts; chicken fights, in which one player gets atop another's shoulders and fights another player who is also on someone's shoulders; and underwater charades. In underwater charades, contestants wear goggles and are allowed to speak as they act out their clue, because the water will distort their voices.
