Professional HTML editors such as Dreamweaver can help you create complex websites, but you can often perform small editing tasks rapidly using light-weight programs, such as KompoZer. If you need to add a quick button to a Web page, for example, you can do that quickly using KompoZer. This program is free, and you don't even have to know HTML to create as many buttons as you like using KompoZer's uncluttered user interface.

Step 1

Launch KompoZer. Press "CTRL" and "O" to view the Open HTML File window. This window lists the files on your computer.

Step 2

Double-click one of your HTML files shown in the window to open it. KompoZer displays the document in the Edit window.

Step 3

Click the location where you would like to create a button. Click "Insert" and click "Form." Click "Define Button" to view the Button Properties pop-up window.

Step 4

Click the "Type" drop-down box and select the "Button" option that appears in the drop-down menu.

Step 5

Type a name for the button in the "Name" text box. Type the text you would like to appear on the button in the "Value" text box. Click "OK" to create the button. KompoZer places it on your HTML document.
