If you love sharing your media with your friends, you may want to send them a ringtone that you created. While you can't send ringtones from your phone's settings files, you can download an app that allows you to create ringtones from either recordings or songs you own and then send them your contacts via email. One of the highest rated apps according Apple's App Store as of 2011 is Create Ringtones!, which is free and allows you to create an unlimited number of 30-second or shorter ringtones.

Step 1

Tap "App Store" on your iPhone's home screen. Press the "Search" button, and then tap the search bar. Type in "Create Ringtones!" and press "Search."

Step 2

Tap the listing for "Create Ringtones!" Tap the "Free" button; then tap it again when it turns green. Enter your Apple ID and password when prompted.

Step 3

Tap the "Ringtones" icon on your home screen when the progress bar disappears. Tap either "Record Ringtone" or "Music Ringtone." Follow the instructions to create a ringtone.

Step 4

Return to the main menu when you have created the ringtone you want to share. Tap "Manage Ringtones."

Step 5

Tap the ringtone you want to share; then tap the button in the upper-right corner that looks like a file drawer. Tap "Email." Type in the email address of the person you want to send the ringtone to. Type a message in the body of the email if you want; then tap "Send."
