The sendmail service allows you to send email from your computer, with each new email message taking its place at the end of the queue. The email messages in the sendmail queue are then processed one at a time until all that email is in your inbox. Most of the time, this process works as intended, but sometimes a job will get stuck in the queue. When that happens, users need to unlock the problem job by restarting the sendmail service.
Go to the file directory. Navigate to the etc/init.d folder
Open your command prompt and navigate to the etc/init.d folder. Type "Sendmail restart" to restart the sendmail service and clear the locked job.
Type "Sendmail stop" and then "Sendmail start" if the restart command does not work. This forces the sendmail service to shut down and restart. That in turn clears any locked jobs.
