How to Set Up Cogeco Through Outlook


Cogeco is an Internet service provider in Canada. One of the services the provider offers is email. You can set up your Microsoft Outlook 2010 application to view your Cogeco email. This allows you to manage your email, events, clients and tasks all in the same place. It also allows you to avoid opening a browser and logging into your Cogeco email account each time you want to check your messages.

  • Launch your Outlook 2010 application.

  • Click "File" in the main menu bar. Click "Info" in the left column and click the "Add Account" button on the window that appears.

  • Click the radio button next to "Manually configure server settings or additional server types." Click the "Next" button.

  • Select "Internet E-mail" and click the "Next" button.

  • Type your name and your Cogeco email address on the next page. Select "POP3" in the "Account Type" drop-down menu. Type "" in the incoming mail server field and type "" in the outgoing server field. Type your username in the "User name" field and your Cogeco password in the field below it. Click to place a check mark in the box next to "Remember password." Click the "Next" button.

  • Click to place a check mark in the box next to "Test Account Settings by clicking the Next button." Click the "Next" button.

  • Click the "Close" button after the test completes. Examine the information that you entered if the test fails. Click the "Finish" button on the next page and restart Outlook.

  • Click "File" in the main menu bar. Click "Info" in the left column.

  • Click the "Account Settings" button and click the "Account Settings" item that appears below the button. Click to highlight the account you just created and click the "Change" button.

  • Click the "More Settings" button. Click the "General" tab and type in a nickname for the account in the top field. Click the "OK" button.

  • Click the "Outgoing Server" tab and click to remove the check mark in the box next to "My outgoing server (STMP) requires authentication" if a check mark is in the box. Click the "OK" button.

  • Click the "Advanced" tab. Type "110" in the "Incoming server" field and "25" in the "Outgoing server" field.

  • Click to remove any check marks next to any of the boxes and click the "OK" button. Close all of the windows and restart Outlook.
