Easy Lap Blanket
-
1
Cut your fabric so you have two equal-sized pieces. The fabric can be the same, or choose two different complementary patterns. Choose a fabric that is soft and comfortable, such as a fleece or flannel.
-
2
Lay one piece of fabric on the table with the right side facing up. Lay the second piece on top, right side facing down. Pin around the edges of the fabric.
-
-
3
Sew the two pieces together with a quarter inch seam. Leave an opening on one side about 4 inches long.
-
4
Turn the fabric right side out through the opening. Fold the open edges in to the blanket and pin in place.
-
5
Sew around the edges of the blanket using a quarter inch seam. This helps the edges lay flat and closes up your opening.

6
Cut your fleece into two equal pieces. Again, use the same pattern or two different ones.
-
7
Cut a 4- or 5-inch square from each corner of the fleece.
-
8
Cut the edges of the fleece into strips. Each cut should be 4 inches long and about 1 inch apart. Cut this on all four sides of both pieces of fleece. It works best if the fabric is laying on top of each other and you cut them at the same time.
-
9
Tie one strip from the top fabric to the matching strip from the bottom fabric. Tie it in a knot and leave the ends free. Continue around the blanket, tying and knotting the strips together.
